3rd PSITS Regional Convention
The Philippine Society of Information Technology Students (PSITS-12) held its 3rd Regional Convention last September 23-25, 2011 hosted by Notre Dame of Marbel University, Koronadal City. It was participated in by 1,278 faculty and students from different Higher Educational Institutions in the region namely: Notre Dame University, Notre Dame of Midsayap College, Southern Baptist College, North Valley Foundation College Inc., Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, MSU-Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat State University, Notre Dame of Tacurong College, Notre Dame of Marbel University, Holy Child College of Technology, AMA College-Koronadal, Holy Trinity College, Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges and Stratford International College. The following events were conducted: Quiz Bee Competition, Programming Contest, e-Poster Making Contest, e-Logo Making Contest, Music Video Presentation, Showtime, Parlor Games and Search for Mr. & Ms. PSITS 2011. The result of the competition: Sultan Kudarat State University, Overall Champion; Notre Dame of Marbel University, 1st Runner Up; Notre Dame University, 2nd Runner Up; Holy Trinity College, 3rd Runner Up and Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges, 4th Runner Up. Mr. PSITS 2011 - Sultan Kudarat State University and Ms PSITS 2011- Notre Dame of Marbel University.
The event was highlighted with Robotics Seminar conducted by Mr. Rey Atienza, Training Manager, RSA Automation and Robotics. The Guest Speaker was Dr. Eloisa W. Paderanga, Director, CHED-RO 12.
The convention was generally successful with the full support of PSITE Member Institutions in the Region.
IBM Trainer’s Training Seminar-Workshop
PSITE-12 held its 1st batch of IBM Trainer’s Training Seminar-Workshop and conducted the IBM Certification Examination last May 31-June 4, 2011 hosted by Notre Dame University, Cotabato City. The trainer was Mr. Gerald Soriano from Notre Dame University, an IBM Certified Academic Enthusiast. There were fourteen faculty participants from Mindanao Polytechnic College, Notre Dame of Marbel University, Notre Dame of Tacurong College, Sultan Kudarat State University, MSU-Maguindanao, Notre Dame University and Southern Baptist College. There were eight passed in the IBM Certification Exam which was conducted by Mr. Alexis Pantola, Academe Training Officer, IBM Philippines.
The 2nd batch was conducted last October 24-28, 2011 hosted by Holy Trinity College, General Santos City. There were 31 participants from the following institutions: Notre Dame of Tacurong College, Notre Dame of Marbel University, AMA College, Southern Baptist College, Holy Trinity College, Ramon Magsagsay Memorial Colleges, Mindanao Polytechnic University and DOLE Philippines. There were fifteen trainees who were allowed to take the IBM Certification Exam and fortunately all passed the certification exam.

Region 12 Officers and Members Join NCITE 2011-12
The National Conference on Information Technology Education (NCITE) provides a venue to present innovative ideas, approaches, developments and results of research projects in the areas of Information Technology and Technology-based Education. The conference also promotes the exchange of information between researchers, faculty, administrators, and I.T. practitioners.
NCITE 2011 is organized by the Philippine Society of I.T. Educators Foundation, Inc. (PSITE) in cooperation with Palawan State University and PSITE Region IVB Provisional Chapter.
The following Region-12 Officers and Members attended the NCITE 2011: Martina P. Tagacay (Notre Dame University), Elmer C. Buenavides (Sultan Kudarat State University), Hajah T. Sueno (Notre Dame of Marbel University), Percila M. Panagdato (Sultan Kudarat State University), Bonifacio Livera (Notre Dame University) and Donald B. Salminao (Southern Baptist College).
DevCon Assembly
PSITE as academic arm of colleges and universities established partnerships with local and international IT Industries to strengthen the education paradigm of ITE programs. One of its partners is the Developers Connect (DevCon), a premier organization for Filipino software engineers who adapts the global best practices for skills improvement and professional advancement. DevCon conducts activities such as: Birds of a Feather (whether its a like-minded discussion or an opposing view debate), Lightning Talks (learning cool things from peers thru social networking, cloud computing, open source tools and SCRUMming) and Hackaton (get “hands on” coding together, build online application, deploy a CMS powered website, use Eclipse and automata testing). In connection with this, the PSITE-12 will hold the DevCon Assembly for students on January 21, 2012 to be held in OLPGV Parish Center, General Santos City hosted by Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges.
